We now enforce our free game limit for non-subscribers. Thank you for participating in our beta! Your existing games will not count toward your free game limit.
Added pinch-to-zoom for the game board.
You can now poke an opponent once per turn, if the opponent has been inactive for long enough.
You can now resign a game for no penalty if your opponent abandons his turn for 24 hours.
Game entries in the Load Game scene are now sorted by oldest first.

GENERAL

Implemented push notifications for the Wordvoyance apps (once updated).
The main menu now has a button at the top for viewing your account information. Therein now lives the log-out button.
You can now create games with friends from the Friends page in the main menu.
The loading modal now appears instantly when creating a new game.
Win / Loss ratios in your profile are now calculated to the international standard. Ties are considered half a win, and half a loss.
View Profile actions no longer takes you out of the game.

CHANGE: Added guardrails to the code responsible for updating games. This should prevent most, and hopefully all, issues where the game would not update after being left idle for a while.

FIXES

BUG FIX: Fixed an issue that prevented the valid word check in the bottom right corner of the game board.
BUG FIX: The Ready Menu will now tell you why a word can't be played when it's supposed to.
BUG FIX: The Ready Menu will now correctly hide itself from the navigation tree after playing a word.
BUG FIX: Added a slight delay to Go To menu activations. This ensures certain devices have enough time to process the navigation tree changes before setting your focus point.

GENERAL

CHANGE: The default focus upon opening some modal dialogs is now at the top of the dialog. The original implementation set default focus to the close button. As a compromise, activating a dialog window's title will close the dialog.

FIXES

BUG FIX: Made sure more aria labels are correctly truncated during Drag and Drop.
BUG FIX: Made sure more aria labels are refreshed when your opponent plays a word. Sorry about that.
BUG FIX: Playing a letter in the top left corner will no longer softlock the game.

GENERAL

This update represents a massive restructure and optimization pass of the game's code. Please report any regressions to our Discord.
NEW: The game now supports VoiceOver's rotor jumplist for headings. When navigating by heading, you will be taken between the game status, the cursor location on the board, the tile rack status, and the action buttons, in that order.
NEW: Enhanced support for dragging and dropping tiles with a screen reader. Aria will read the tile beneath the drop point while you drag the tile.
NEW: Your board cursor position will be remembered between refreshes. Note: This does not remember any tiles placed on the board.
CHANGE: The game announcer using Aria-Live has been set to "assertive" from "polite". According to the specification, this is intended to make the announcer interrupt itself and other voice playback. In practice, it prevents the announcement queue from piling up. If you find this detrimental to your experience, please let us know.

PERFORMANCE: The game's graphics have been optimized to avoid slowdown, especially on iOS devices. Specifically, outlines and shadows are now baked.
PERFORMANCE: Refreshing of Aria labels has been optimized to avoid slowdown, especially on iOS devices.
PERFORMANCE: Drag and Drop logic has been optimized to avoid slowdown, even without a screen reader active.
BUG FIX: Repeat announcements should now play correctly on iOS. Note: It is possible that iPads updated to recent versions of iOS and running the game with Safari will still not correctly read repeat announcements. This is because iPads no longer declare themselves as mobile devices.
BUG FIX: Fixed two regressions which caused Swap Tiles to fail under certain conditions.
BUG FIX: Added more checks to ensure rack tiles form a contiguous word before being played.
BUG FIX: Keyboard entry for tiles will now ignore modifier keys.

GENERAL

A Forgot Password link has been added to the sign in window for if you forgot your password.
Updated the email notifications for Wordvoyance to all have the name, now showing "Wordvoyance Notification".
Adding a user as a friend will now send them an email notification if they have notifications enabled.
There is now a Wordvoyance Landing Page that is separate from the main menu of the game. If you've bookmarked the game, you may need to update your bookmark.
Added a few share buttons in the game. One is on main menu at the bottom, one is on the Add Friend page, and one is when you complete a game.
Blocked users should no longer be matched against you when you queue up.
Email notifications will now list the other user's username so you know how started the game or took their turn.
Email notification links will now take you directly to the game instead of the menu.

FIXES

Adding a friend should now show them on the page after a couple of seconds without the need to go back to the main menu and back into the friends menu.
The Load Game menu should now longer have the "time ago" labels overlapping at the top of the screen.
New Game menu should no longer list duplicate friends.
The game should no longer occasionally lock up when trying to press "Next Game"
Fixed an error spamming issue when there are no tiles placed on the board yet.
If you happen to open a menu quickly after a game ends, the screen will no longer split trying to display two windows.
When using VoiceOver (or similar programs), swiping to "next element" will now skip over the rack spaces where the tile is placed. These are still targetable on the board itself.
Going to a different window and back should no longer cause the login page to no longer respond to the Tab key.

GENERAL

Wordvoyance now uses the NSW20 dictionary, from the North American Scrabble Players Association (NASPA). Themis Games thanks NASPA for allowing us the privilege of using your amazing word list.
Added a new Rack Status line above the tile rack, just below the game board. This displays the number of remaining tiles, links to the new Remaining Tile dialog, and displays valid words as they are formed on the game board.
Board spaces now have the number of additional nearby tiles added to the ends of their descriptions, not including any crosswords at each space as they are already acknowledged.
Reworked the action button bar at the bottom of the page. Swap Tiles is now a dedicated action button. Settings has now been consolidated into the More Actions menu.
Replaced the Speak Rack button. There is now a status indicator above the tile rack that indicates valid words, the number of tiles remaining, and for screen readers, reads the rack in a line.
Added a link in More Actions to quickly switch to your next active game.
Added a link in More Actions to view your opponent's profile.
Added a Remaining Tiles dialog. You can access it from the More Actions menu, or by activating the new Rack Status line.
Blank tile letter selection is now instant, instead of requiring you to navigate to a confirmation button.

Email notifications, when enabled, will now inform you when an opponent ends a game. Understand that these emails are fairly generic, and we plan to improve them with player and score info in the future.
Keyboard input: You may now directly type to select the letter for a blank tile, or when choosing letters to swap.
Keyboard input: You may now use numbers 1 through 7 to interact with rack tiles
Keyboard input: You may now use the home, end, and page up and down keys to quickly navigate menus and the game scene.

FIXES

Turn History is now scrollable via touch.
The New Game menu should no longer list friends you recently removed.
When certain errors occur during account creation, the button to try again should no longer lock up.
Shuffling your rack should no longer pull tiles from the board and instead just shuffle what's left on your rack.
Some browsers didn't support direct changes to Aria labels and so wouldn't read them. All browsers should now read all element labels the same.
Keyboard input: Your focus position will now be saved as your cursor crawls the game board. This allows you to use tab and shift + tab to quickly move between the board and tile rack while forming words.
Drag and Drop: Dragging a tile to an unused rack space no longer activates that tile. It also doesn't move that tile to that rack position, but we'll work on that in the future.
The rack sorting object responsible for Aria announcements during tile placement should now match your locally saved rack order when resuming a game.
Fixed an issue where certain browsers would not read Aria announcements at all.
Fixed the swap tile dialog elements not having useful aria labels.

GENERAL

Changed the Random Opponent system to a queue system that pairs you against other players who are also ready to play.
Added an option to opt-in for Email notifications when it is your turn in a game.

Resigning games should no longer result in a '-1' score for the resigning player.

Backspace will now properly skip over existing letters to remove letters before them that you may have placed. NOTE: Backspace is intentionally only supposed to delete letters from the row/column you're backspacing in because people may plan multiple words when considering what to play.

Version 0.5.1

GENERAL

You can now use your keyboard to type words, as long as the letter you press is present on your rack. When using a blank tile, you can use Space, '.', or '?'. The following letter you press will be placed after the blank tile window opens up.
Your rack will now save every 5 seconds. This allows you to rearrange your tiles in your rack without needing to worry about it resetting when leaving the game and coming back.
Opening on the profile page from the game now opens in a new window.
On the Load Game page, your score will no longer be listed on the left side of all games. Instead, the person that started the game will have their score on the left.

FIXES

The game should no longer fail to start updating if you put your phone into sleep mode and then wake it back up.
Drag and dropping tiles should no longer make the cursor aim random directions.
Blank Tiles should no longer appear lower than other tiles when swapping tiles.
You should now be able to swap tiles on your rack with empty spots.
